Provincial Level Coordination Meeting with Development Partners

Province level coordination meeting with development partners was organized on 1^st November 2021 (15 Kartik, 2078) in Hotel Avenue at Butwal, Rupandehi. A total 33 participants, including 11 DPs members and representing from the OCMCM/PLGSP/PPIU, PTA-PCGG. Dr. Khagendra Prashad Subedi Secretory/PPD chaired the meeting, Principal Secretary Mr. Dilli Ram Sharma as a chief guest, Mr. Moti Prasad Sharma ED of PTA-PCGG and Mr. Kaman Singh Thapa Magar OCMCM/Under Secretory/PPM as guest. Mr. Subas Yadav, Governance cum Legal Expert/TL delivered welcome speech with objectives of the DPs meeting. Principal Secretory Sharma formally inaugurated the program with reading the banner and put valuable remarks to the participants. He said that the various National and International Development Partners were working in the province in various sectors with wider coverage. We all are development workers so our work should be focus on the vision of province government for ‘Sambridha Pradesh, Khusi Janata. So, we need to work in close coordination, cooperation, collaboration, partnership. He assured to provide support to the DPs for arising problems to implement the program in the province and local level. For that, we are planning to establish a DPs’ coordination unit in OCMCM with maintain the details of the DPs as well as further strengthen the coordination mechanism between PG and DPs. He expected to submit a concrete report of the meeting with suggestion to work in coordinated way with the province government and development partners in the days to come. In the meantime, Mr. Kaman Singh Thapa Magar also put his inaugural remarks. He focused that our common objective is that to fulfill the people’s aspiration and need.  It is a common point. We have to work jointly. The coordination mechanism should be continued and OCMCM lead for that. We have limited resource but a lot to do. So, we should work hand in hand in the future. The name and their working areas are as follows.

UNOPS: Coordination and capacity building,

UNICEF: Children, capacity development, water and sanitation

UNFPA: Maternity health, sexual reproductive,

WHO: Health emergency, reproductive health sectors,

CARE Nepal: Emergency health sectors, COVID-19,

GIZ/CDSE: Governance and capacity development,

NHSSP: Health and governance,

MEDEPA: Entrepreneurship development,

United Mission to Nepal: Health, livelihood, environment, etc.

FAIRMED: Curable disease, Tropical disease, disability, maternal health, water and sanitation.

In the second session of the meeting, Mr. Subas Yadav, Governance cum Legal Expert/TL presented the about PLGSP, overall achievements of the PLGSP in the province till the date and explored lessons, experience, issues and challenges during the programme implementation. He also presented the Provincial Annual Strategic Implementation Plan (P-ASIP) for FY 2021/2022. Some participants raised some quarries and responded by PPD, PPM, ED and TL. Similarly, all the DPs’ participants presented their programme activities conducting in the Lumbini Provinces with some challenges and lessons during the program implementation. The participants were put some suggestion with recommendation to the provincial government for strengthen the coordination mechanism in future.

Dr. Khagendra Prashad Subedi Secretary/PPD put closing remarks of the meeting. He requested to all participants to tie-up with PLGSP because the coverage area of the programme are all districts and LGs, including work with priority of province government.  He said “We all are a family. There are no any differences between PG and DPs. Our common vision is to the prosperous Nepal, so we should unite and perform work in synergetic way. We will jointly work in the coming days.” He thanked to all participants for their active participation.

The following key agendas and decisions were made in the meeting;

1. Development Partners (DP) coordination unit will be established in OCMCM in near future.
2. A database and information regarding the DPs in the province level will be maintained.
3. The overall programme and achievements of all DPs should be shared in trimester wise in the OCMCM including key achievements, challenges, lesson learned and experiences that should be replicate for further effective implementation of the activities for better results.
4. Organize half-yearly DPs meeting to review the progress and further direction for timely and effective implementation. The OCMCM/PLGSP/PPIU coordinate for organize the meeting.
