Training on Electronic Data Management

A two days Electronic Data Management training was organized on 27-28 October, 2021 at Bhairahawa, Rupandehi. The objective of the training is to enhance the technical capacity of Information Technology personnel of provincial ministries and offices to achieve the vision of province government’ ‘DIGITAL PROVINCE’. Likewise, the electronic data management training consolidated the participants knowledge, abilities and skills on methods of electronic data collection, storage, processing, cleaning, analysis and visualization to disseminate for the use of planning, reporting, monitoring and policy formulation purpose. In the inaugural session, Secretary/PPD; Dr. Khagendra Prashad Subedi chaired the session. The Under Secretary/PPM; Mr. Kamansing Thapa Magar, Under-Secretary; Mr. Yamkant Pandeya of OCMCM were also attended in the session. In the inaugural session The Governance cum Legal Expert/Team Leader; Mr. Subas Yadav welcomed to all participants of the training and stipulated the PLGSP focusing to capacity development of both civil servants and elected representatives of the provinces, including province governments priority of ICT and e-Governance. Similarly, secretory/PPD put their view on the training and welcomed to the participants and focused the importance to the training. He said that the OCMCM main objective is that to make the digital province as well as less paper work and paperless, including cost effectiveness and efficiency in public service delivery.
The contents of the training focused on concept and methods of data collection, data attributes, data cleaning, data analysis, visualization, including using excel in data analysis, getting used to with excel and google sheet analytics features, getting used to with mobile open-source data collection tools, data visualization using excel and google tools for betterment in the digitalization of province governments’ information.
In total 20 IT personnel (Gender: 18 Male and 2 Female, Inclusion: Dalit-1, Janajati-4, Madeshi-2, Bramhan/Chhetri-13) were capacitated of the line ministries/departments and offices of Lumbini Province. The participants have also developed action plan for further action steps such as website update, use of their abilities, knowledge and skills in their daily work. The participants also identified and list out further capacity development needs i.e., technical expertise development, computer software related needs for further capacity development interventions.
Thus, the training was very fruitful and contextual contents and facilitation by well experienced and skillful facilitators. The participants expressed that the training is very much practical base and the knowledge and skills gained in the training would be utilize in the daily official business.
